Our one of a kind cake smash sessions are designed with the family's style in mind, detailed, and unique to fit their child’s personality.

Booking

It is our recommendation that parents allow 3-4 weeks for planning a cake smash session, and book their sessions at least three weeks prior to any planned party date (if they plan to use the photos in conjunction with the event). We are most successful documenting within the ages of 11-12 months.

Timeless Portrait Set

Depending on the portrait package selected, usually the first half of the session is a timeless portrait segment - We provide one setup that is chosen by either the parent or photographer, and the outfit is provided by the mom unless otherwise coordinated with photographer. This set can be different or the same as the cake smash set. The use of available props is at the discretion of the parent and we encourage the family to bring their baby's' favorite item, which may or may not be included in a couple photographs. Available props include seated props (chairs, stools, benches) wash basin, number and name signs, wooden boxes, floral, and various colorful accents.

Choosing your setup for Timeless Portraits

I have listed our inventory below - most selections can be used as a floor or backdrop depending on orientation and size. If the client doesn't have a strong preference, then I pick a couple options to coordinate with the cake smash set.

Please note that due to a variety of monitor settings, the color of the backdrop as seen on your monitor, may slightly vary from the actual printed color. Examples of in use backdrops can be provided upon request. Most solid colors can be slightly modified during the editing process.

The Cake Smash Set

We currently offer three package options for cake smash session:

Just the Cake - A classic setup, styled with the use of a limited backdrop selection. Includes photographer time, setup, and cleanup.

Simple Smash - A simple yet elegant setup, styled using a neutral-color backdrop, color-themed décor (poofs, banner/garland, confetti, balloons/balloon garland), and use of available props. Includes portrait segment and cake smash in a studio setting. Includes photographer time, setup, and cleanup.

Epic Smash - A detailed theme setup, styled using a solid color or printed backdrop and use of coordinating props and decor to compliment theme. Includes portrait segment and cake smash in a studio setting. Includes photographer time, setup, and cleanup.

All cake smash sessions include full body shots, close ups of messy faces, and some pretty funny action shots. If the parents are looking for a minimalist style cake smash session, the Simple Cake Smash is the way to go. If the parents want a one of a kind, never seen before, wow the pants off their family when they see the gallery style cake smash session, then they definitely need the Epic Cake Smash.

Client provides the outfit(s) for the session unless otherwise coordinated with photographer. Limited selection of rompers/coveralls, tutus, and diaper covers available for use at no additional fee.

Once the session date is booked and confirmed after the deposit is received, I send a questionnaire to the parents that help me learn a little about the baby - personality, milestones, and food allergies. I also ask questions to help me begin the planning process of the set.

Getting Messy

Did you know that smash sessions aren't limited to only cake?! We love original ideas! If cake isn't their thing, some other popular options include cupcakes, pancakes, muffins, donuts, cookies, pie, fruit, whipped cream, cheerios, and much more!

The Cake

Clients are welcome to bring their own cake or, we can provide one from one of our fabulous cake designers.. If there are known allergies, the client must provide their own cake. The cake is generally a 2-layer 6" round buttercream or whipped-cream cake, and may be decorated with colorful accents in the chosen color scheme. We also have a small inventory of cake stands for use.

Choosing Your Setup

BACKDROPS

I have listed our inventory of neutral backdrops below. Clients are welcome to select from our inventory for a minimalist look and have the option of adding color-themed accents (poofs, banner/garland, confetti, balloons/balloon garland). Or, for an additional fee we can special order something of your preference. The Epic Smash package is currently the only set where we include a special order or custom designed backdrop.

FLOOR DROPS

I have listed our current inventory of cake smash floor drops below. These are specific to messy sessions due to the nature of the material and clean up. Clients are welcome to select from our inventory or, for an additional fee we can special order something of your preference.
